Many non-British fashion designers would like to develop their careers or set up businesses in the UK. However anyone considering this option has to comply with immigration law if they wish to live or work in the UK. The Mayor of London has previously proposed introducing a “London visa” to give talented fashion designers an accessible route to obtain immigration permission to work in London. Until this is introduced, non-European Economic Area (EEA) designers must rely on current avenues in order to work or study in the UK. Most routes of entry have been streamlined into the Points Based System (PBS), which is structured into five tiers.
